SSG (Ret.) Gilbert Joseph Rothmund, 81, of Dixon, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab in Dixon.
He is survived by four children, Gardner Rothmund (Julie) of Decatur, Ill.;, Joe Rothmund (Donna) of Lebanon, Jennifer Hobbs (Ron) of Plato, and Kyron Rothmund of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren, Luke Rothmund (Lena) of Champaign, Ill., Stephanie Foreman (Mark) of the state of Tennessee, Scott Rothmund of Champaign, Ill., David Rothmund of Denver, Colo., Brandi Maltie (Robert) of Rolla, Ashley Covelusky of Lebanon, Heather Johnson (Shaun) of Lansdale, Pa., Brittany Wexler (Andrew) of Abingdon, Pa., Courtney Joerger of the state of Florida, and Cameron Buttenbush of the state of Florida; 20 great-grandchildren, Liam, Luka, Carolyn, Penolope, Gabriel, Ryan, Jordyn, Julius, Asher, Isaiah, Tyler, Layla, April, Mariah, Michael, Nicolas, Kylie, Jaelynn, Reggie, and Aubrey; several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Burial with military honors will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.
