James L. “Jim’’ McGuire, 75, of Nebo, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, in Mercy Hospital.

He was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Laclede County to Carl and Cleta Bray McGuire.

On June 8, 1979, he was united in marriage to Deonna Cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim was a lifetime mechanic, serving customers in our community for many years. He earned well deserved respect for his knowledge and attention to detail. The three most important things in his life were his family, his Bassett Hound, Ernie, and making people smile. He always had a story or joke to share and never met a stranger. Countless times he told his family, “Everyone is a friend you just haven’t met yet.’’ He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his wife Deonna; two children, Jeanie McGuire of Nebo and Kenny McGuire of Lebanon; siblings, David McGuire and his wife Judy of Lebanon and Joan Stephenson and her husband Kyle of Weston; grandchildren, Christian Steel and his fiancee Melissa, Kitiara “Kat’’ Wright and her spouse Aly, Raistlin McGuire, Jerimiah Capel and Olivia Capel, other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life for James L. “Jim’’ McGuire will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at Roby Community Center. There is no scheduled burial at this time. His body is to be cremated under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Jim’s family. Donations may be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948 or 1001 N. Lynn, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
