Lonnie Dean Palmer, 71, of Stoutland, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, in Stoutland.

He was born March 2, 1952, in Waynesville, to Clarence Alva and Orma Eileen Corder Palmer.

Those preceding him in death include his parents; one brother, Randy Palmer and one grandson, Bret Lanier.

Following graduation from Waynesville High School in 1970, Lonnie entered the United States Air Force and proudly served our country until his honorable discharge. He attended Crowder College where he obtained a Waste Water Management Certificate. He worked for waste management for the city of St. Robert and later at Fort Leonard Wood. Lonnie was also the owner and operator of Bell Cab Company and All Star Express Convenient Store in St. Robert. He was a city councilman for several years and also ran for mayor of St. Robert. Most recently he was a rancher and raised Black Angus cattle on farms in both the Stoutland and Sleeper communities. He enjoyed working in his yard, mowing and dirt track races. However time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, is what he treasured most.

He attended Maranatha Baptist Church in St. Robert.

Lonnie is survived by one son, Jason Palmer and his wife Johnna “Nikki” of Springfield; one daughter, Angela Doden of Jefferson City; one brother, Clarence Alva Palmer, Jr. and his wife Angela of Waynesville; one sister, Betsy Blankenship of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kaleb Palmer, Tristan Doden, Katelynn Palmer and Emma Richardson; other relatives and many dear neighbors and friends.

A memorial graveside service for Lonnie Dean Palmer will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Mayfield Cemetery with Pastor Keith Carnahan officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force. There is no scheduled visitation. Memorials have been suggested to Mayfield Cemetery.
