Peggy Jo Howard, 81, of Marshfield, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, in Lebanon.

She was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Lebanon, Mo. to Kenneth and Ruth Riley Marcum.

On June 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to Melvin T. Watson, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. Melvin preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1983. Later, Peggy married Don Howard and they shared several years before his passing.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl Marcum; a sister, Janet Lewis, and a special sister-in-law, Phyllis Marcum.

Peggy Jo was raised in the Lebanon area and attended Lebanon R-III Schools. After she and Melvin were married, they made their home near Lebanon and raised their family. She was employed as a seamstress for H.D. Lee Company for several years and was also a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She later worked for The Picket Fence store for a few years. Once she and Don were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and later moved to Marshfield. She enjoyed doing ceramics and painting dolls, but her real passion was for quilting. She loved Elvis Presley and enjoyed his music.

She followed the Baptist faith throughout her life and during her younger years attended Berean Baptist Church. Later on she attended Grace Bible Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Stephens and her husband Ed of Lebanon; a son, Ted Watson and his wife Jeanette of Fair Grove; seven grandchildren, Travis, Daren, Heather, Dede, Nicki, Jimmy, and Katie; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Leer and her husband Dwight of Readston, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Peggy Jo Howard will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. Tim Jarvis officiating. Burial will be in Berean Cemetery near Richland, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until service time in the funeral home.
