ROBERT "BOB" JENNINGS

Robert “Bob” Jennings, age ninety-two of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, in Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Bob was born October 8, 1930, to Cecil H. Jennings and Helen K. (Stroud) Jennings in Rock Port, Missouri. He was the second of eight children.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donnie Jennings and James E. Jennings; his sister-in-law, Delores Jennings; a brother-in-law, William Jones; six nephews, and one niece.

Bob served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He spent his life being an auto mechanic by trade and owning his own businesses, even having big accounts such as Hiland Dairy. He had a body shop with Orbie Hildebrand and also owned a post treating plant with his brother, Tom. Bob had built his first house when he was just twenty years old. When he retired, he went in the construction business and built and sold homes. Bob enjoyed restoring vehicles and loved working on his place, being outdoors, and in his shop. Though Bob worked countless hours throughout his life, family meant the most to him. He had a great fondness for all his family and any free time was meant for them. He had a very generous heart.

Bob was baptized when he was young. He attended the Church of Christ on South Highway 5 until his health prevented him from attending.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Madge Jennings, of Lebanon; his son, Michael E. Jennings of Lebanon; two daughters, Diana Jennings and her husband, Johnnie, and Brenda Huddleston and her husband, Richard, all of Lebanon. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Brandon Peck and his wife, Melissa; Paige Huddleston; Tia Jennings and her significant other, Andy; and Adam Jennings; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Donigan and Kamden Peck; three brothers, Thomas Jennings and his partner, Martha; Jackie Jennings and his wife, Karen; and Gary Jennings and his wife, Velvet; two sisters, Betty Jones, and Patricia Jones and her husband, Charlie; a brother-in-law, Paul Vandaveer and his wife, Nadean; a sister-in-law, Alvetta Atwell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services for Robert “Bob” Jennings will be Sunday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon, with Joshua Ortez officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park.

A memorial has been established to the great-grandchildren’s education fund and donations may be made through the funeral home.
