RUBEN GORDON OLSON

Ruben Gordon Olson, 97, of Lebanon, died Monday, July 4, 2022, in Lebanon.

He was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Oslo, Minn. to Lars and Kristine Evanston Olson.

On June 16, 1952, he married Dorothy Pauline Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Pauline Olson on June 2, 2021; his parents; three sisters, Ingard Martin, Helen McHugh and Effie Bagwell; and one brother, Herbert Olson.

After eighth grade graduation, Ruben began working for an uncle who owned a gas company. He delivered gas to farmers in the area, until the military and WWII called him to duty. He was drafted in 1943, at the age of eighteen and proudly served our country until the end of the war. When he returned home, he moved to California and worked as a lineman for Los Angeles County in the communication department for 26 years, much of that time spent as a supervisor of 25 men. Upon retiring, he moved to Missouri and finally became a farmer, as he always wanted.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Ann Heintzelman and her husband Steve of Springfield; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ruben Gordon Olson will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Greg Turner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park with military honors by the United States Air Force, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
