Steven P. Buie, 58, of Lebanon died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, in Lebanon.
He was born Oct. 5, 1964, in McComb, Miss. to William Samuel and Mattie Evelyn Brister Buie.
On Aug. 2, 1988, he was united in marriage to Sheila Ebanks in Hokinsville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Steven was a member of Harvest Tabernacle Church.
Steven enjoyed fishing, especially bass fishing, hunting and anything outdoors. He was also an avid New Orleans Saints football fan. He was a private person but loved time spent with his family and friends. He retired from the United States Army on April 1, 2005, after 23 years of military service. During this time, he served in several duty stations as 11B, including: Germany with the 3rd Armored Division; Fort Campbell, Ky. with the 101st Airborne Division Bravo Co 3/502nd Screaming Eagles; Sinai Multinational Force and Observers from January-December, 1985; Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division; Fort Ord, Calif. with the 7th ID HHC Light Fighters, and fought in Operation Just Cause H-Hour in 1989; Hawaii with the 25th Infantry Division; in 1993, upon arriving in Missouri, he served for 3 years as Alpha 3/10 Drill Sgt; he returned to Ft Campbell served in 3rd Bn Bravo Co 3/187th Rakkasans; then returning to Missouri, he retired from TRADOC CTC-CIC Combat Training Company-Combat Indoctrination Committee; Fort Leonard Wood where he served as Committee Chief. After retirement, from April 1, 2005, to October 2005, he worked for the Department of Defense Range Control. Steven worked from October 2005, to January 2021, as a Conservation Law Enforcement Officer (Game Warden) for the Department of Defense-DES at Fort Leonard Wood for 16 years. From January 2021 as Game Warden for the Department of Defense at Fort Leonard Wood. He medically retired November 2021.
Steven is survived by his wife, Sheila, of the home; sons: Timothy Ryan Buie and wife Kandise of Republic, Steven Travis Buie of the home; his mother, Mattie Buie of McComb, Miss.; brother Sandy Buie and wife Becky of McComb, Miss.; sisters, Renee Boyd and Libby Aultman and husband Mike, all of McComb, Miss.; one granddaughter, Vayda Keigh; other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services for Steven P. Buie will be held at noon Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville with military honors provided by the United States Army. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until service time also on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial chapel. Memorials have been suggested to the choice of the donor.
