Walton Clay Dickson

Born February 11, 1962, Walton Clay Dickson, in Clearwater, Florida to Henry Clay Dickson and Mary Elizabeth Dickson, departed Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas, at the age of sixty-two years, two months and twenty-three days.

Walton moved with his family to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he graduated High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Degree from Louisiana State University (LSU).

His career started with the Army Corps of Engineers at the Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He went on to work for the United States Army for more than thirty-five years before retiring as Tech Director/Sr ORSA Maneuver Support Battle Lab at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

On September 19, 1987, Walton married the love of his life and best friend, Carolyn Dungan, in Utica, Mississippi. Together they shared over thirty-six years of happiness and love, while raising their two beautiful children.

Preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clay and Mary Elizabeth, Walton is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; his daughter, Maci Prophet and her husband Kelly of Rogers, Arkansas; his son, Matt Dickson of New Hope, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Amelia Cook, Alrek Prophet and Brendon Prophet; and his sister, Susan Rosser of San Angelo, Texas.

Walton is best known for his love of LSU sports (Geaux Tigers!). He loved watching the Purple and Gold, particularly during football season. He was a loyal fan. When his children were young, he coached their basketball teams. When it was time to relax, he enjoyed going fishing.

Walton was a man of God. He and his family were faithful members of First Baptist Church, Lebanon while they lived here. Through his faith, he was a great mentor and friend to those who were around him. His gentle spirit gave him the ability to teach others while being a witness for the Lord.

Above all, Walton loved his grandchildren. They were so very special to him and he enjoyed all the time he spent with them.

Walton will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and integrity. He was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. Words cannot adequately express the impact he has had on the lives of his family and those around him. The memories he made with family and friends will be cherished and shared through the years to come.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
